Sustainable Land Use Online

We’re very happy to announce that we’re now putting the Sustainable Land Use course on the internet as an interactive distance learning course.
Patrick Whitefield
You can access all the content of this unique and popular course without having to take time out to attend the residential course and at a much lower cost.

At the same time you don’t miss out on the personal element, as there are many opportunities for two-way interaction with your tutor, Patrick Whitefield, and with other course participants.

The online course includes:
• the entire contents of the SLU course in text, images and film
• links to a wide range of additional content on the internet
• forums and wikis where course participants can share ideas and experience
• a range of practical projects which you can undertake, with personal
  feedback from your tutor
• regular Skype conferences with your tutor, Patrick Whitefield
• Patrick also participates in the forums and you can ask him questions there

The practical, outdoor element of the course is provided by the projects. Most of these are the same as the exercises on the residential course except that you get to do them in your home landscape. This means on your own farm, garden or allotment, if you have one or in other open space in your locality if you haven’t. This helps to make what you learn immediately relevant to what you’re doing on the land.

The first half of the course includes modules on:

- The Soil
- Ecology
- Organic Horticulture
- Sustainable Forestry

This is now on line and you can enrol and start learning immediately.

The second half of the course is the full Permaculture Design Course. This is in preparation and will be on line in the next few months.

Fees
The total fee for the four modules online now - Soil, Ecology, Organic Horticulture and Sustainable Forestry - is £300.

The fee per module, if you don’t want to take all four, is £100 each.
